Pharmacy Benefits

You are eligible to use this prescription drug program if you are enrolled in the Early Retiree Plan. If you are less than 65 years of age and not eligible for the Early Retirement Plan you must select the Kaiser or Providence options, unless you are not within either of their service areas.

Four prescription drug options are available in this program. You decide which option to use at the time of purchase.

Mandatory Generic Policy

Many prescription drugs are available as a trademark or “brand” name drug and a chemical or “generic” name drug. By law, brand and generic drugs must meet the same standards for safety and effectiveness as brand name drugs. Obtaining generic drugs, whenever possible can provide you with savings directly (by paying a lower co-payment) and indirectly (because you save the Plan money—which ultimately benefits you).

When you have a prescription filled, you will receive a generic substitute whenever possible, unless your doctor will not allow a generic substitute or you specify otherwise on the order form.
